Agree with few points in your argument though overall it went little overboard. Whisky Line??? Are you implying there are no lines in US? Ever heard about GC Line???????:))))))I havent waited for 5 to 7 yrs in India for anything and not got it. Maximum I waited would be Tirupati temple for 12-14 hrs:)
I am only implying convenience is a big factor in deciding your future and your children future and where would you like to concentrate your energy/passion for the rest of your life.
I wouldnt mind waiting in Tirupathi line or waiting in line at Jai Mata di temple, for that the choice is mine. I am talking about lines which I have to get to or have my bahadur/driver/employee if I am in business do it for me.
Of course it sounds overboard but you wont believe the kind of lines (specially the close times) where state government dispenses alcohol. (new delhi is one of those).
BTW I forgot the Movie Ticket Window line (also the black line by the cycle stand LOL). I am sure I forgot a lot of other lines. The Key is Convenience for me.
Anyway don't take it too literally but I will give you a real example. I could never pay my electric bill for a commerical place even if I wanted to. There is a middle man. If you don't go through these middle men they will hassle you every month. Will come up with something so they can threaten you with a disconnection. Now at a business place and specially in service oriented business you cant fight them. For house electric bills thats not case though.
Same for sales tax guys, excise tax guys, ca's and lawyers. To get my IT clearance even after having every paperwork, commissioner (IAS) tip was Rs. 1000. forget babus and chaprasis.
As for your GC comments that is not the right comparision, as we don't require a GC in India. The closest would be Passport line (3 months to 2 years) and you have to bribe the enquiry man no matter what, and which state. HDFC Draft Line, Visa Line (after 40-100 days wait), Wrong passport picture run get new and go back to line. Not mentioning H1B sponsoring employer line.

You may come from a fortunate/honest town/village where there is still honesty and sincerity or Maybe one didn't face it as someone in their family was a bigwig, meaning every one knew (fiction) Anirudh is son of Income Tax Commissioner or Malaika is daughter of H P Dwivedi who is MP from Rohtak, Haryana. so for those guys it was sir, sir, sir all around.

I may not have had an opportunity to grow up in India - however, I'm pretty sure - in fact quite certain, the sort of b'wood trash dished out, is nothing representative of Indian culture and ways of life. Most of the stuff encourages ills of American pop culture and feels desperate to the point of being foolish wannabees - and you know what's really sad -- that people from a nation with such incredibly history & culture need the feel to ape ills of American pop culture and the likes. I do not know why this issue is more important for people to discuss. Just because Mr Khan is asked to be a common man? He is not a world famous actor. He is a famous actor to a very very small minority Indian Community in USA. Why should USA give VIP treatment to any star actor from any country of the world? If he was an official ambassador/senior diplomat/Minister, it us understandable. He is simply coming to USA to make money. He will still come again to USA to make money even if he is strip searched again and questioned for more than 66 minutes. Indian government seems to have crossed the line by complaining. This VIP culture that is so prevalent in India needs to change.
If Indian government really wants to complain, why are they not complaining against the long wait periods for H1B stamping in India. Ordinary Indian citizens going to India for stamping sometimes have to wait several months in the name of security checks. This takes a toll on their life and job in USA. There are several other issues Indian Citizens face in USA. If Indian government has chosen to interfere with the internal matter (in this case national security) of USA, why is it keeping quiet on other matter of importance to its citizens? Lets say the interested muster around plaintiffs and sue USCIS. Also, The court agrees that USCIS did not do its duty. Will the court go to the extent of ruling over INA which clearly says that unused visa numbers cannot be recaptured? Will the courts/judicial system set such a precedent where they will go against law just because the agency failed to implement it correctly? I don't think they will set such a precedent by overruling against the law set up by congress and the President who signed it. By long shot, Can the court recommend congress to fix the situation by changing the law and by allowing recapture? Possibly. Does that help and fix our issue?

Christ is god's son! He does not need a Green Card or any other color card :D So what is the point of making it 0?:p
Please do not spread rumors, can you please point me to the rule that says so? I did not see any Immigration law saying that God's Son doesn't need a Green Card. Christ wasn't born in USA, and neither were his parents US citizens, so his chance of US naturalization comes from a path through Green Card or Asylum. I dont think Christ had a 4 year degree (recognized by USCIS), so he does not qualify for GC based on EB1/2/3 categories. He could claim asylum though religious persecution, but then I am not sure if Christianity was recognized by USCIS during Christ's time :D

Hi All,
One company offered me pre-approved labour, with PD as Dec-2004. They are mentioning that I can file i140 immediately as soon as
my H1-B transffered to new company.
I have been hearing the news about LC substitution elimination from DOL.
Has they announced any dead line for filing the Labor Substitutions ? or expecting soon.
Has they announced any validity period on approved LCs to regularise this process?
If yes - How is it going to effect my case?
Is it better to take this LC( all the criteria required for sub is matched) or apply a new labour under PERM process.
Currently I am in my first H1-B and valid till Oct 2007.
Please need experts advice in this regard.

Guys do not get deceive by CON/UPA govt raising voice for Sikhs in Pak. They raised it because the next phase of elections will be held in Punjab, Himachal, Delhi and Haryana where there are significant Sikh population. CON/UPA govt does not care about Sikhs. Worried that the data provided is inaccurate. If they provide accurate data (+/- 10%), follow the rules, then we can wait for our dates to turn in for years. But they always do math differently than any one else and move the visa bulletin dates which no one can understand how that was calculated.

Companies recruiting for a "permanent job" 10+ years in future !!!
DOL making sure that this 10+ years future job doesn't replace any US citizen !!!
DOL making sure that the salary is good for this "10+ years future job", using the current data.
Ohh... and expecting the person to remain in the same/similar job and not receive much hier salary even after 15 years.
DOS making sure "ethnic mix" by a "country based limit", so if "India" is divided into 100 different small nations, everyone of them will get GC really fast (even though they are all in same ethnic).
These Employment verification letter RFE and same and semilar job requirement were not framed assuming it takes a person from India 10+ years to get a green card. There were framed assuming it takles 2 to 3 years to get a green card.

2005. The guy at the college said to the FOBs (including myself)...Dress in your best suits, we are goin to a business meeting! all of us got excited. the meeting was attended by people of all colors. felt good that desis are heading it! then i joined paying around $250. Slowly came to know that its not my cup of tea. The quickstar guys have only few brands of softdrinks and other amway products, always nagging others to join in, faking a spontaneous friendship. The speeches they give at the meetings are all almost the same. they seem to have a standard text, and have an aquired american accent. they talk abt being financially independent, but losing perspective, friends, decency. after a few weeks, i got my refund, and pulled out.
2006. TX. a stranger desi lady was being so friendly to me and my friend in a Walmart. After sometime when she was trying to give her hubby's contact details, i walked away. my friend was caught up, and he wouldnt come! I got many follow up calls from her abt business meetings. i said NO.
2007. a friend of mine comes to Florida from India to do a phd in chemistry. calls me up and says im coming to DE for a meeting. you should come! he said it wasnt abt chemistry. I could immediately smell some amway stink. i advised him not to go for it. im glad he and a lot of others stopped getting into this quickstar quicksand.
I mean, the weeds are everywhere! and at all times.
Just like Telemarketing is regulated at the federal level from using deception, i hope this amway mania is kept under check as well.

So you guys are saying that I was laid off thrice in 1 year because I was the rotten apple ? If this is how you guys are going to present arguments, I think I am wasting my time here.
I am not saying ALL companies are misusing are L1s/H1bs or all L1s/H1Bs are bad. All I am saying is that the outsourcing companies have no legality in using L1 visas for bringing in low wage programmers. I am only saying that ban the outsourcing companies from flooding this country with low wage workers. If you did not know, L1 was primarily meant for intra company transfer of high skilled managers and higher level executives.
