On October 2, 2009, The U.S. State Department launched the 2011 Diversity Visa Program. Between October 2 to November 30, 2009, applicants from countries around the world may register for a chance at winning one of the 55,000 immigrant visas that are drawn randomly from all eligible applicants. Hi I'm a Moroccan citizen I was placed in removal proceedings (NY Buffalo) and took voluntary departure. once my wife's divorce was finalized we got married while on voluntary departure. we filed motion to reopen the case and it was reopened and transferred to Los Angeles, CA then the judge closed my case based on marriage with an I130 receipt without prejudice. The I130 was filed on june 2009 and was transferred to Los Angeles on November 12, 2009. I made an appointment with Info Pass but they just said you have to wait untill we call you. My lawyer said I can't file for the I485 untill the I130 is approved. My question is: How long will it take before we will be called for an interview?

I cannot give you any estimation But my question is why can't you file I-485. Any one who pending marriage based I-130 should be able to file I-485. Double check this with another attorney.

Actually I have an L2 not an L1...hence the need of an EAD before the green card...
Now that you have the GC, quit worrying about expired EAD and all that crap. Enjoy the freedom and privileges of green card life. Don't worry about trivial things like EADs now.

The memo addresses licensing requirements for health-care workers in detail, and the effect of having a license - or not having a license - on approval of a case. If the foreign national has the required license, the adjudicator should not "look beyond the license." If the foreign national has a restricted license (e.g., license approved except for mandatory supervised practice), and the petition is otherwise approvable, an adjudicator should approve the petition for one year, or the duration of the restricted license, whichever is longer.
If the employee does not have the license because s/he needs certain immigration documents before getting a license, CIS can approved the petition for one year. The memo says that "The approval of any such H-1B petition shall not constitute approval by USCIS for the alien beneficiary to engage in any activity requiring possession of such State or local license. Ok, to make things complex,
Here is my sample. I just have a TextBox and Label - both bound to a FriendsName Class which implements INotifyPropertyChanged
I have set the UpdateSourceTrigger to PropertyChanged and thus whenever I type something in the TextBox, my Label gets updated then and there.
Now, What I want to do is, I want to have a Button, say Update and when I click that , the data should update the source and thus result the change in the Label. So, its like, after I complete typing in the TextBox, click on the Update Button, the Label should not be updated with the value :D
Hope I am clear :(

Hi,
I got appointment letter for Biometrics from USCIS. I already gave in 2007.
Why are they asking again? and I only got this, my husband and son didn't get it.
Right now I am on EAD, since last december(2009) I am not working, will there be any issues as I am the primary applicant.

You are on AOS PENDING status. Since u've a valid H1 stamped in ur passport, you are free to roam in-and-out of the country without any issues.
Your H-1 will be invalid until your 485 is approved or you use EAD to work or AP to re-enter US.

My attorney sent a letter with approved I-140 copy to reconsider the decission on I-485. No change in the status online so far (3 days passed). I will wait for another week and apply MTRs for me and my wife.

I am on my 2nd phase of H1B visa which is valid until 2012.
I want to quit my job and go back to my home country.
How long after I quit my job do I get to stay here to wrap up and ship my stuff??
Does that jeopardize my status? I plan to be here for about 30 days after quitting my job. WOuld that be ok? or is it overstaying?
If I ever need to apply for a tourist visa in future will this jeopardize my chances of getting a visa then?

Wanted to apply for Advance Parole (second time).
Is NSC issuing 2 year AP's ?
Wondering if any body got Advance Parole for 2 years from NSC.
Also, I appreciate if any one can share their experince about INFOPASS to get Advance Parole in case of emergency

Hi folks. My wife is petitioning for my green card and we are kind of stuck on a few questions. Hope someone can help us with some or all of these queries we have.
I-130
1. Part C q#10 - I arrived in the US in 2004 on an F1 visa. Now, I'm on H1B status. I don't believe I have ever been given an alien registration number. Am I wrong?
2. Part C q#14 - Do I say I arrived as a student even though I am currently on H1-B? If so, I don't have that I-94 anymore. It was taken by the airline when I left to get my H1-B stamped. Also, I have travelled extensively for work ever since I started my job. Consequently, I have two I94's. This is because I recently renewed my passport and when I went to Canada for business, upon returning they gave me a new I-94 (the previous I-94 is still in my old passport). So, what do i say i arrived as? And which I-94 number should I provide? Also, the format of the I-94 number on the top of the card seems to be different from that on the application ie. xxx-xxxxxxxx???
3. Part C q#19 and 20 - I don't really have any relatives in my home country anymore. Do I still have to give an address? Also, I can't write my name in my native language either. What do i do?
4. Part C q#22 - The instructions for I-485 say that if I am filing concurrently then I should mail everything to their lockbox address in Chicago. So, do I enter Chicago, IL here? or my current city, state of residence?

My 6 years of H1B visa expires on Feb 2012. Can I transfer to H4 Dependant Visa on my wife's H1b Visa or F1 Visa for one year and after one year re-apply for a fresh H1B visa? or I have to go outside USA for one year and then Apply for fresh H1B Visa.

I am an Indian citizen. I have an approved I-140 under National Interest Waiver with a PD of Aug 31, 2007. I am now a permanently employed scientist at a National Lab. I think I am now eligible for application under EB-1 Outstanding researcher category. Is it possible to apply for I-485 without another I-140? It will take quite some time to secure all the recommendation letters to apply for EB-1 (OR). I am wondering if I can bypass the whole process of I-140 and directly apply for adjustment of status based on my approved I-140 saving time and effort.
